Helen W. Brooks, 66, of Pleasant Hill died Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Brooks was a native of Halifax County, the daughter of the late William Webb and Jerusha Kennedy Webb.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Gene Brooks, Sr.; her sisters, Peggy Webb, Ellen Webb, Edna Birdsong, and Olivia Massengale; and her brother, Charlie Webb.

Mrs. Brooks is survived by two daughters, Grace B. Horne and her husband, Joseph, of Roanoke Rapids and Angela D. Brooks of Pleasant Hill; four sons, Donald G. Brooks, Jr. and Melissa Johnson, Timothy L. Brooks, Mark P. Brooks and his wife, Marcy, and Tracy A. Brooks and his fiancé, Michelle Bryant, all of Pleasant Hill; a daughter-in-law, Betty Brooks; thirteen grandchildren, Donald G. Brooks III and his wife, Tina, Crystal B. Horne and her husband, Christopher, Timothy W. Brooks, Katherine N. Brooks, Leslie Brooks, Adam Brooks, Anthony Brooks, Breanna Brooks, Brent Taylor, Philip Taylor, Patrick Horne, Travis Horne and his wife, Melinda, and Brian Horne and his wife, Ashley; six great-grandchildren, Katie A. Horne, Allyson L. Horne, Taylor Brooks, Payden Taylor, Zaynairah N. Brooks, and Cameron Brooks; three sisters, Dot Pittman of Weldon, Faye Gardner of Halifax, and Carolyn Pittman of Efland, NC and her brother, Pete Webb, also of Efland.

Askew Funeral & Cremation Services is handling the arrangements, where the funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2009 in the chapel with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 20, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home.
